The ideal candidate will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider dedicated to delivering urology services in a rural clinic situated in an underserved region. This role involves joining a dynamic and expanding clinic that consists of one physician and one physician assistant.

Employment Status: Salaried/Exempt

Weekly Work Hours: 40

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 12pm

Focus on Patient Population: Outpatient

Age Range of Patients: Birth to death, primarily serving adults.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Required Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program with current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an APRN.

Licensure Type/Certification:

  • AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): For adult patients (13 years to death), focusing on stable chronic disease management or primary care.
  • FNP (Family NP): For patients from birth to death, managing stable chronic diseases and providing primary care across all ages.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in urology is highly desirable.

Supervision Structure: The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will work under the guidance of a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by the Medical University of South Carolina Health.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • All certifications must be current and valid prior to the start date:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • DHEC and DEA licenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care through the following activities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Assess and treat patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results in accordance with practice agreements or guidelines.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures as authorized by the Clinical Division Chief.
  • Carry out catheter placements, suprapubic tube changes, urethral dilations, hydrocele aspirations, and penile injection therapy.
  • Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers and consult with supervising physicians as necessary.
  • Document and bill for the care provided.
  • Utilize current research and evidence-based practices in clinical decision-making.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
  • Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory efforts of the organization.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Potentially mentor students from the Medical University of South Carolina enrolled in advanced practice programs and assist in the training of new team members.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and continuing education as mandated by applicable policies and state laws.

Physical Demands:

Continuous requirements include performing job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Candidates must be able to bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, and fully utilize both hands and legs. Good finger dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive motions are essential. Candidates should be able to lift, lower, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted, and exert up to 50 lbs of force. Additionally, candidates must maintain 20/40 vision corrected and be able to work in a latex-safe environment.
