The Department of Medicine, specifically within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, is eager to welcome a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance their team. This role focuses on delivering specialized care to patients undergoing Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

The Division is dedicated to providing exemplary patient care, offering outstanding educational experiences for students, residents, and fellows, and advancing innovative research to deepen the understanding of hematologic diseases.

Equipped with cutting-edge facilities, the Division is staffed by a proficient team committed to scientific excellence, clinical service, and medical education across ten core divisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans for acute symptoms associated with oncologic therapies.
  • Provide support to patients and their families regarding symptom management and emotional responses to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Exhibit clinical proficiency in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) practice environments.
  • Assess and manage medical concerns of BMT patients, coordinating consultations as required.
  • Lead multidisciplinary rounds, deliver bedside care, and manage admissions and discharges in the inpatient BMT unit.
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure comprehensive care for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirates.
  • Monitor patient conditions, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings.
  • Comply with institutional policies and state/federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care: Must possess a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Physician Assistant Specialty Care: Requires licensure from the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.
Candidate Evaluation:
  • Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care: Must hold a specialty certification from recognized organizations.
  • Physician Assistant Specialty Care: Must possess a specialty certification in relevant areas.
