The Process Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency and implementing effective corrective actions for any process irregularities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality injection molded components that meet company standards and customer requirements in a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Process Technician
- Operate machinery, including start-up and shutdown procedures, making necessary adjustments, and maintaining equipment to comply with safety and quality standards.
- Set up molding machines according to established conditions and ensure they function within validated operating parameters.
- Maintain optimal product flow throughout the production process.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Control to address any issues related to non-conforming products through effective communication.
- Ensure all process parameters remain within the defined operational window on a daily basis.
- Report any changes in cycle times to the scheduling team.
- Clean and prepare auxiliary equipment for use.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization in the machine and work areas.
- Consult with the team supervisor regarding any technical challenges.
- Alert relevant personnel about any deviations or performance issues related to operations, molds, quality, or safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Engage in all required training programs.
- Previous experience as a Process Technician is preferred.
- Ability to train machine operators on the specifics of their molding operations.
- Knowledge of proper purging techniques for material transitions.
- Proficient processing skills to produce quality parts while optimizing cycle times and minimizing scrap.
- Experience with injection molding processes on various presses.
- Familiarity with Paulson Training or RJG processing methods is advantageous.
- Experience with diverse mold machines.
- Knowledge of various robotic systems used in injection molding.
- Understanding of different mold concepts, including cold and hot runner systems, multi-plate molds, hydraulic cores, slides, and valve gates.
- Experience in processing various custom resins.
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, particularly in the Medical or Food sectors.
- Experience with Decoupled Molding and an understanding of Scientific Injection Molding (SIM).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment with frequent interaction with operators, technicians, peers, and management.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to processes and secondary operations.
- The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts is common.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Regularly required to stand, bend, squat, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, as well as walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to utilize hand tools effectively.
- Capability to read and comprehend relevant instructions.
