Cab Manufacturing Engineer – Technical Prep

Location: Greensboro, NC | Employer: Netgroup Engineering

Starting Salary: $80,000 + DOE

What You Will Do

As a Cab Manufacturing Engineer you will be instrumental in ensuring manufacturability within Volvo Group's North American operations. You will focus on aligning vehicle module and assembly module designs within the Cab Conventional product line to meet manufacturing and assembly requirements. Your work will ensure that all designs adhere to the Volvo Operations Concept and Volvo Production System.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary liaison between Vehicle Engineering and manufacturing facilities, ensuring that product designs meet manufacturing standards.
  • Driving manufacturability, improving quality, and enhancing productivity for all new product designs within your assigned area.
  • Conducting product assembly simulations, ergonomic simulations, and tooling simulations using Digital Mock-Up (DMU) and other virtual manufacturing tools.
  • Analyzing product, process, and resource preparation to ensure readiness for production.
  • Coordinating the implementation of new designs and changes into the manufacturing environment.
  • Leading resolution efforts for design issues impacting manufacturing and ensuring compliance with manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Producing and presenting manufacturing study reports, ensuring comprehensive feedback to stakeholders.

Your Future Team

You will join the Manufacturing Engineering Team within Group Trucks Operations North America, specifically focusing on the Cab Conventional product line. Your role is critical in maintaining a seamless connection between product development and the manufacturing process to optimize productivity, quality, and efficiency. This role reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering – Cab TPE.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Master's Degree is a plus.

Additional Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Product Life Management (PLM) tools such as Enovia and PDM Link for DMU build-up.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools including PTC CreoElements Pro, PTC CreoView, DS Catia, and DS Delmia.
  • Familiarity with Volvo Manufacturing Systems such as SPRINT, KOLA, ORF, and DIS.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge and techniques.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings and conceptualizing manufacturing solutions.
  • Familiarity with productivity improvement tools and methods.
