We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team at Pivotal, a leading innovator in electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. As a key member of our Electrical Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of our aircraft's avionics and electronics.
Responsibilities- Take ownership of multiple electronic assemblies on the aircraft throughout the design lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Create efficient production testing solutions for electronic assemblies, utilizing your expertise in schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Design and carry out design validation testing for our electronics and sensors, identifying and mitigating potential issues.
- Analyze electronics and components for failures in manufacturing and operations, performing root cause analysis and implementing fixes to improve yield, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Iterate on existing designs and develop innovative solutions to new problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product development.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and product validation activities to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in board design, with a strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design concepts.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with a focus on embedded systems and electronics.
- Experience taking at least one product through the entire development process, from design to manufacturing and testing.
- Proficient in test script writing, with a preference for Python.
- Experience with PCB layout and schematic capture using Altium Designer, as well as common communication protocols (SPI, UART, CAN).
- Strong understanding of firmware (C/C++) debugging tools and processes in embedded systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Experience in the automotive or aerospace industry, with a focus on eVTOL aircraft development.
- Prototype and medium volume manufacturing experience, with a strong understanding of production testing and validation.
- E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects) design mitigation and validation experience, with a focus on ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Lithium-based battery integration experience, with a strong understanding of power electronics and energy storage systems.
- Resourceful, curious, and never satisfied with the status quo, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stimulating, and supportive team environment, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
