About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our water-cooled chiller product engineering team, you will be responsible for electrical analysis, detailed design, and control of sophisticated water-cooled chiller components and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain electronic hardware and software for temperature sensors, pressure sensors, flow sensors, and A-B software.
  • Design analog and digital interface circuits, develop power supply circuits, and select power supplies.
  • Perform worst-case circuit analysis and incorporate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over environmental specifications.
  • Assist the chiller team in developing, testing, and supporting chiller system controls, including selecting system components and accurately interfacing them to electronic control panel I/O.
  • Acquire agency approvals such as UL, CE, and FCC on Printed Circuit boards and Electronic Panels.
  • Conduct and apply costing analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
  • Develop schedules that accurately reflect project breakthroughs and implement them.
  • Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
  • Provide mentorship and support to drafters, designers, service and field technicians, and manufacturing on Commercial Systems products.
  • Prepare and participate in design reviews.
  • Learns and applies regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
  • Capture and analyze test data to identify electrical performance problems and propose solutions for corrections.

Requirements:

  • BSEE, BSEET, BSEMET, or related field.
  • Preferred candidate to have 5 years of valid experience with one or more of the following: PLC programming and troubleshooting, HVAC systems and controls, automation control systems, electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting (24VDC, 120VAC, & 240VAC).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to program and debug PLC programs.
  • Ability to identify obsolete parts for PLCs, HMIs, Network switches, and protocol translators for customer upgrades.
  • Provides secondary-level product support to the field after product technical support resources are exhausted for PLC applications.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell software (rslinx, FactoryTalk, Studio5000, Activation Manager, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 10% of time).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understands chiller controls.
  • Familiarity with HVAC Systems and motor-driven mechanical engineering design and test, alternative experience with gas compression would be advantageous.
  • Chiller PLC experience.
