Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and analysis, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume responsible charge for projects within the engineer's experience and expertise
  • Coordinate project designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs and provide technical information
  • Perform specific engineering studies and other design analyses using industry software
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed
  • Assist in the development of design approaches and concepts
  • Evaluate the work of design colleagues and provide feedback and/or corrections
  • Conduct project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and observe installed construction
  • Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate associated construction and government standards
  • Identify collisions and ensure collisions are addressed and resolved by design staff
  • Develop the overall man-hour budget and be responsible for the man-hour budget within the discipline
  • Provide input, feedback, and updates on project schedules and plans work in accordance with the schedule
  • Review shop drawings and submittals
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects
  • Assist senior technical staff in the development of technical documentation, proposals, and presentations to clients
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and clients to determine project scope
  • Review work for technical accuracy and completeness prior to the final QA/QC review
  • Maintain a continued focus on keeping up with industry trends and changes through continued self-education and training
  • Actively participate in the local chapter of a professional organization where the technical reputation and professional image of the firm may be enhanced
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and/or developmental guidance of engineers, designers, and EITs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college
  • Eight years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
  • Registered Professional Engineer
