The Bakery Operator plays a crucial role in supporting all aspects of the collaborative production process. This includes operating automated production and packaging machinery, identifying equipment malfunctions, making minor adjustments, or reaching out to the appropriate personnel for assistance, as well as assisting in operator preventative maintenance and ensuring hygiene standards for all related equipment. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the entire production and packaging workflow. Therefore, flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the operator may need to rotate through various job assignments in production and packaging, monitor both equipment and food quality in accordance with established standards, and make timely, precise decisions that impact order fulfillment and food integrity. In addition to maintaining quality and compliance, the Bakery Operator is responsible for fostering a safe working environment for themselves, their colleagues, and our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and fine-tune machinery and equipment to ensure precision and adherence to food specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, machinery, and equipment while consistently following safety protocols
- Assemble, set up, initiate, and halt equipment for start-ups, changeovers, and specific line requirements
- Ensure continuous compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Follow the production schedule, running orders, and recipes accurately
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers regarding all pertinent information related to the manufacturing process
- Demonstrate proficiency with all operational equipment, ensuring effective machinery operation during employee breaks
- Fill in for absent employees as necessary
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred
- Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Knowledge of equipment and products
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and products
- Must be at least 18 years of age
