Position Overview
Level I: $1, $1,928.17 Biweekly

Responsibilities include providing essential social services casework; identifying client needs for more intensive services and facilitating referrals; managing a caseload of moderately complex cases; and performing related duties as assigned.
Incumbents in the Community Support Specialist I/II classification receive direct supervision from a Social Worker Supervisor or other higher-level supervisor or manager.
Key Responsibilities
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting interviews with clients and family members to assess their social, physical, and mental needs and gather health information for service provision.
- Performing case evaluations to assess the safety of individuals and families; determining appropriate treatment methods.
- Assessing reports of suspected abuse; may be required to work on-call; may provide information to law enforcement.
- Developing and implementing culturally sensitive treatment plans for assigned caseloads in accordance with agency requirements.
- Referring clients to community resources for specialized services and advocating for their needs.
- Assisting clients in utilizing available resources effectively.
- Interpreting agency policies and regulations to clients and applicants.
- Conducting home visits as part of casework assignments.
- Maintaining accurate case records and databases; communicating decisions and case plans to clients and service providers.
- Participating in training and staff development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in social work processes.
- Providing community outreach for various agency programs.
- Maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
- Performing related duties as assigned.

Social Worker I:
Pattern 1: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university;
OR
Pattern 2: Successful completion of thirty (30) college semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited institution, including fifteen (15) semester units in social welfare or related fields;
AND
One (1) year of full-time experience in a comparable classification; OR Three (3) years of full-time experience providing direct client services in a social service setting.
Social Worker II:
Pattern 1: One (1) year of full-time experience performing entry-level social work case management;
OR
Pattern 2: One (1) year of full-time social work case management experience; AND thirty (30) college semester units from an accredited institution, including fifteen (15) semester units in social welfare or related fields.
