About Our Continuity Team:

What: The FLS continuity team member is defined as a full-time educator temporarily assigned to a host institution.

Why: Sudden absences and vacancies can occur throughout the academic year, and having a group of educators within our organization who are prepared to step in as needed is essential for prioritizing student needs—ensuring that a qualified teacher is present for our students at all times.

How: When a lead teaching position becomes available, you may be reassigned to fill the vacancy at your current host institution or another FLS location. Once placed in a permanent position, you will complete the fiscal year in that role.

Who: We are looking for individuals who are adaptable in terms of grade level and subject area placement, and who:
  • Can collaborate effectively with various stakeholders;
  • Take ownership of their professional growth;
  • Are committed to fostering excellent educational environments in New Orleans.
Key Responsibilities:

As such, primary responsibilities for co-teachers include the following:
  • Collaborate with a K-8 classroom teacher as needed (in small groups);
  • Design and facilitate small reading and math classes;
  • Evaluate students and utilize data to guide instruction and student grouping;
  • Conduct enrichment or intervention classes during designated periods;
  • Provide individual tutoring as required;
  • Plan and instruct at least one unit during the second semester;
  • Engage in regular meetings with Development Partner;
  • Participate in duty rotations, school-wide, and grade-level events;
  • Lead the planning and execution of at least one school culture initiative;
  • Document SPED IEP minutes (if applicable);
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree;
  • A solid foundation in and mastery of the relevant content area;
  • Completed or in-progress Louisiana Teacher Certification (or eligibility for out-of-state applicants);
  • Experience working with students from open admissions charter schools or similar public education settings.
