Medical Assistant Pain Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Pain Management team at Hardin Medical Center. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our pain management program.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care to pain management patients, including hands-on patient care in both clinic and procedures settings.
- Assess, plan, direct, administer, teach, and evaluate nursing care to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with physicians and APCs to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Offer support to patients and monitor their progress throughout clinical/procedure visits.
- Complete dressing changes, suture and staple removal, pump refills, and pump reprogramming as needed.
- Identify potential risk events and provide intervention to assess and mitigate risks.
- Exhibit clinical judgment when making decisions and take immediate action in serious/emergency situations.
- Assess data reflective of patient status and interpret information to identify care requirements.
- Review and return clinical phone line messages regarding medication refills, consulting physician, and patient questions in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of surgical procedures, infection and isolation control procedures, and aseptic technique.
- Utilize universal precautions when providing care and use supplies appropriately.
- Correctly identify patients by name for direct care procedures and/or treatment.
- Actively participate in intradepartmental meetings and in-services to stay informed of changes within the department.
- Adhere to scheduling guidelines and expectations to reach pain management center patient per hour and referral management goals.
- Display commitment to ongoing training and attend required educational programs.
- Graduation from an accredited school or college of nursing (required)
- Two years' experience as a clinical nurse in a hospital environment, preferred experience in critical care, surgery, or emergency department
- Current Tennessee State Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse with no restrictions
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds during a scheduled work shift
- Ability to see with corrective eye wear
- Ability to hear clearly with assistance
- May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
- Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations
