Job Overview

The Process Improvement Engineer plays a pivotal role in articulating business objectives, initiatives, and methodologies within the Assembly and Test Division. Key Responsibilities

This role is centered on enhancing engine assembly operations for GE Aerospace's development, production, and maintenance facilities globally by:

  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of various assembly techniques, material handling, and torque application methods throughout the complete engine assembly process.
  • Assisting in the diagnosis of assembly challenges, specialized tooling applications, and best practices.
  • Building a robust knowledge of different engine hardware components, assembly methods, and the standard types of specialized tools utilized in these processes.
  • Understanding standard protocols related to quality systems, calibration procedures, and contamination control.
  • Identifying common engine hardware damages, their causes, and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Developing proficiency in the transfer and retrieval of torque data between the assembly floor and assembly servers.
  • Interpreting specialized tool drawings, parts lists, and navigating various systems while knowing the right contacts.
  • Utilizing common measurement devices and instruments effectively.
  • Acquiring knowledge of computer-controlled torque equipment and basic hydraulic systems.
  • Executing design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to established business standards and requirements.
  • Documenting technical data generated by projects in line with engineering policies.
  • Writing equipment specifications, overseeing orders, machine testing, installations, and final acceptance, while serving as the technical liaison to equipment manufacturers.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in supporting engine assembly processes.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engine assembly processes.

Desired:

  • Strong technical skills, including familiarity with engineering tools and systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with experience in creating presentations for senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, torque, and air/oil flow measurement systems.
  • Experience in a shop environment, particularly in jet engine assembly/testing.
