About the Role

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) plays a vital part in providing patient care at Baptist Health, working under the direction of the Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, admission and discharge procedures, leading patient groups, and ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support admission and discharge procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
  • Lead or co-facilitate patient groups, promoting a supportive environment.
  • Conduct periodic safety checks and location checks to ensure patient well-being.
  • Perform other care functions as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Nursing Assistant or patient care technician certification or equivalent experience.
  • Requires stable physical and mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and adapt to changing environments.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety principles.
  • Medical terminology training preferred.
