About the Role

The Baptist Health team is seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team in a fulltime night shift position. As a key member of our adult psychiatric unit, you will provide patient care under the direction of our Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
• Participate in admission and discharge procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
• Lead or co-facilitate patient groups, promoting a supportive and engaging environment.
• Orient new patients to the unit environment, providing a warm welcome and setting the tone for their stay.
• Conduct periodic safety and location checks of all patients, ensuring their safety and security.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent required, with a focus on developing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Nursing Assistant or patient care technician certification or equivalent experience, with a strong foundation in patient care principles.
• Requires stable physical and mental health, with the ability to cope with stressful and rapidly changing situations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
