Job Summary

The successful candidate will perform general maintenance relating to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC units, and preventative maintenance for The Shay property in NW DC, approximately 245 units.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work under pressure, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining curb appeal, performing grounds keeping services such as landscaping and snow removal, and refurbishing vacancies within a prescribed timeframe.

We are committed to providing a safe working environment and require our employees to inspect the building daily for light bulb replacement, life safety issues, and hazards.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $24-$30 per hour, plus additional bonus incentives, depending on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
  • Promptly report to the Maintenance Supervisor any conditions requiring maintenance or cleaning observed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Two to four years previous experience in a related field
  • HVAC Certification
