Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Basic Patient Care: Perform basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assist with Personal Care: Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
  • Report Abnormal Findings: Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Maintain a Clean Environment: Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
  • Communicate Effectively: Answer telephone, intercom, and call lights in a polite manner using appropriate telephone etiquette and communicate information to the appropriate staff/family/patient.
Requirements
  • Nursing Students: Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed.
  • CPR Certification: CPR – Basic Life Support.
  • Physical Demands: A physical demands test provides an objective way to identify if a candidate can meet the essential tasks for the job the candidate has applied for at Northwestern Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy Experience: Phlebotomy experience.
  • Nursing Assistant Program: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Graduate of Phlebotomy course.
