Perioperative Nurse

The perioperative nurse plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. As a perioperative nurse at Nantucket Cottage Hospital, you will be responsible for assessing patients preoperatively, planning care during the surgical intervention, implementing nursing actions, and evaluating outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients preoperatively to identify potential risks and develop a plan of care
- Implement nursing actions during the surgical intervention to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Evaluate patient outcomes and make adjustments to the plan of care as needed
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and technologies
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- At least two years of prior perioperative experience
- Current valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
- National certification in areas of expertise (CNOR, CEN, CCRN, etc.) preferred
- BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire
- ACLS and PALS certifications required prior to completion of orientation or within 6 months of hire
