Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain adequate supplies in the outreach vehicle for daily service locations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the outreach vehicle to ensure proper functioning and timely maintenance.
- Facilitate access to requested items for community outreach recipients, coordinating with the Program Manager as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to plan daily routes and coverage for outreach efforts.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and standards.
Outreach and Engagement:
- Develop relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness to better understand their needs and provide necessary items.
- Offer information and connections to services and resources, leveraging knowledge of local providers.
- Create a welcoming and supportive environment during outreach activities, treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
- Share personal experiences when appropriate to foster connection and acceptance of support.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Assist the Program Manager in developing data tracking and documentation for all services provided.
- Utilize the Needs Form spreadsheet to request seasonal items for program distribution.
- Prepare and submit regular reports detailing program activities and outcomes.
- Accurately utilize the HMIS system to track participants and maintain current data.
- Conduct housing eligibility evaluations as needed.
- Participate in housing staffings to represent clients when necessary.
Collaboration and Networking:
- Build relationships with local shelters, behavioral health providers, and homeless service programs for seamless service transfers.
- Represent St. Vincent de Paul in interactions with local business owners and community members.
- Connect with other homeless service providers to explore new outreach opportunities.
- Engage in community meetings and events to promote outreach efforts and share information about SVdP.
- Keep the Program Manager informed of community meetings and events to ensure appropriate representation.
Volunteer Experience:
- Utilize volunteer time to educate participants about the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Train volunteers in preparation and distribution of items, as well as in connecting individuals to services.
- Encourage volunteer participation and ensure they feel valued and included in the mission.
Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record. A current Food Handler's Certification is required due to daily food service responsibilities. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness is beneficial, and lived experience in receiving homeless services is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is advantageous. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is preferred, along with excellent communication skills with various stakeholders.
ADA Requirements:
Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds regularly.
Working Conditions:
This role may require working in diverse locations and conditions, including areas not intended for habitation and sites where individuals have established encampments.
