Role Responsibilities

As a Merit Badge and Aquatics Instructor, you will collaborate with the Program Director to implement engaging programs that align with organizational standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering well-structured lesson plans and activities to youth in an engaging and enjoyable manner.
  • Creating and developing curriculum for both new and existing classes.
  • Ensuring a safe environment through active supervision of all participants.
  • Maintaining accurate records of merit badge progress, attendance, and class rosters.
  • Assisting Lead Instructors with inventory management of supplies and equipment.
  • Overseeing the proper setup, use, and cleanup of facilities and equipment.
  • Addressing any program or equipment issues promptly with your supervisor.
  • Instructing youth on water safety, boating, and paddle craft skills.
  • Serving as a positive role model and mentor for participants.
  • Implementing discipline procedures in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Communicating effectively with fellow staff and Lead Instructors.
  • Participating in ongoing staff training sessions throughout the year.
  • Learning to operate a Boston Whaler motorboat as part of your role.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

September to May (School Year)

*Expected hours: 10-20 hours per week

*Flexible weekday and weekend shifts available
