We are seeking a skilled Power and Mechanical Worker to join our team at Bay Area Rapid Transit. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in mechanical systems and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform skilled installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and modification of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and HVAC equipment and systems.
- Inspect equipment for maintenance needs, make basic repairs to ensure safety, and place barricades or signs to ensure patron safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in a variety of mechanical and electro/mechanical equipment and perform repairs as required.
- Suggest improvements and work with engineering and other maintenance staff regarding modifications.
- Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalent.
- Completion of an apprenticeship as a machinist, millwright, or related mechanical trade.
- One year of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of varied industrial mechanical systems and equipment.
The successful candidate must be able to work in confined spaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and walk, stand, twist, stoop, and bend. They must also be willing to work off-hours shifts and occasional emergency overtime.
