Portfolio Associate

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the underwriting, closing, and funding stages of each loan sourced or acquired in the Secondary market.
  • Assists in the reporting of critical corporate banking metrics to internal divisions, including originations, portfolio balances, fees, disbursements, and payoffs.
  • Prepares customer portfolio reports and other miscellaneous documentation as required, such as quarterly covenant monitoring and leveraged lending reports, ensuring timely completion.
  • Conducts weekly analyses of the Corporate Banking Portfolio, monitoring past due accounts, payment processing, and interest rate adjustments as necessary.
  • Evaluates the performance of the loan portfolio, including financial metrics, share price updates (if applicable), and relevant news.
  • Acts as a liaison between corporate banking and internal support teams as well as agent banks.
  • Supports the corporate banking team in preparing client presentations, waivers/amendments, and visit summaries.
  • Assists in the preparation of credit reviews and maintains all necessary logs.
  • Provides support during internal and external audits.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Banking team to gain knowledge in Credit Analysis.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and complaints in alignment with First Bancorp's service excellence standards.
  • Contributes to the implementation of operational policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and banking regulations.
  • Monitors bank-wide policies related to corporate banking and associated matters, including Leveraged Lending.
  • Engages with closing, risk, servicing, and other departments on inquiries such as KYC, tickler reports, and pending items.
  • Maintains and updates the corporate banking database, including lender sites and internal credit files.
  • Promotes cross-selling of First Bancorp's services and products.
  • Performs other ad-hoc tasks as necessary to gain familiarity with all departmental areas.
Judgment Independence:

Judgment independence is exercised in accordance with established internal policies and guidelines.

Error Impact:

Errors in this role could affect operations in other departments and have economic implications for customers and the Bank.

Interpersonal Skills:

Effective interaction with customers and employees of the Bank is essential.

Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

- Strong mathematical and communication skills.

- Previous experience in a financial institution is preferred.

- Solid understanding of financial institution branch operations, products, and services.

- Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.

- Proficient in using office equipment, including computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines.

- Ability to sit for extended periods.

- Capable of effective verbal communication.

- May be required to work beyond standard hours during peak periods.

Work Environment:

Employees in this position work in an office setting with a comfortable temperature, adequate lighting, and quiet surroundings. They may be exposed to external elements when representing the company at events and may need to work extended hours, including holidays, if they coincide with company activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A formal background in banking products and/or processing new accounts, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job is required.
