Job Title:

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

Yale New Haven Health seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality patient care in critical care and neonatal environments.

Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver age-specific respiratory care using oxygen, aerosol, and humidity equipment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  2. Evaluate patients' pulmonary status through medical chart review, patient interview, physical examination, and blood gas interpretation.
  3. Operate and apply respiratory care equipment, including ventilators, manual resuscitators, and monitors, with knowledge of their proper use.
  4. Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently, utilizing time productively during work hours to complete assignments on time.
  5. Minimize breakage or damage to hospital supplies and equipment, promoting cost-effective practices.
  6. Demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting and applying respiratory care equipment, showcasing knowledge of its operation.
  7. Evaluate cardiopulmonary status of ventilator-dependent patients using basic skills, including obtaining patient history, evaluating ventilator data, physical examination, and interpreting blood gases.
  8. Provide safe care by identifying patients using approved identifiers, employing standard precautions, and demonstrating HRO behaviors 100% of the time.
Requirements:
  1. Education: Graduation from an accredited program of Respiratory Care, current active license by the State of Connecticut as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, and NBRC Registry Examination eligibility.
  2. Experience: Entry-level position for new graduates plus those with some experience in critical care or neonatal environments.
  3. Skills: Competent in basic operation and application of respiratory care equipment, excellent oral and written communication, organizational skills, ability to work under stressful conditions, and interpersonal skills.
