Job Title: Project Technical Leader - Lead Service Program

CDM Smith is seeking a highly skilled Project Technical Leader to lead the technical aspects of complex designs with a group of talented multi-discipline engineers. This role is based in the New York/New Jersey area and will assist in directing the technical management and delivery of lead service line programs throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead teams to develop lead service line inventories, perform design tasks, and assist clients with planning for and managing lead service line replacement programs.
  • Develop technical approaches, review draft design deliverables and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure that firm's policies and practices are followed on all work, perform site reviews and studies as needed to ensure designs are aligned with location specifics.
  • Update design requirements as necessary based on lessons learned and new information, coordinate with teams nationally to ensure a consistent approach across the firm.
  • Contribute to firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers, templates, go-bys, and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
  • Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals and presenting at conferences and webinars.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs), review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations, and best practices.
  • Proactively meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs, attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
  • May act as a point of contact for external client and related industry contacts, collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff, mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 12 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
