Position Overview

CAPE, Inc. offers an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Lead Early Childhood Educator.

Eligible for Hiring Bonus


• POSITION: EHS and HS Educators – Various Locations


• Employment Type: Non-Exempt, Full Time (40 hours/week)


• Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience, education, and permit level, ranging from $22 to $28.00/hour for candidates with a 4-year degree.

Role Responsibilities:

The Lead Educator will engage with children both individually and in groups, contributing to a supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes confidence and self-esteem.


• Implement educational goals, policies, and activities aligned with CAPE, Inc. objectives, Head Start Performance Standards, and CDE Regulations.


• Design and execute a developmentally appropriate, inclusive curriculum, incorporating feedback from parents and colleagues.


• Collaborate with staff and families to create and prepare lesson plans.


• Facilitate engaging circle time activities.


• Maintain a dynamic and developmentally suitable classroom environment.


• Conduct assessments for all children; develop individual growth plans; and document ongoing observations.


• Participate in evaluation sessions to assess children's progress and adapt the curriculum accordingly.


• Compile and maintain portfolios showcasing each child's development and skills.


• Adhere to child protection reporting requirements.


• Ensure inclusive participation of children with exceptional needs in all activities.


• Conduct home visits for enrolled children (minimum twice yearly).


• Hold Parent-Teacher conferences (minimum twice yearly).


• Foster effective and professional relationships with families.


• Encourage family involvement in all program aspects.


• Oversee meal and snack service, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.


• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and dining areas.


• Ensure proper food storage practices.


• Manage classroom upkeep and safety practices at all times.

Qualifications:


• BA or AA degree in Early Childhood Education or Development, or a BA/AA in another field with 24 units in ECE/ECD (including CORE classes).


• 3 units in Infant Toddler preferred with an Associate degree.


• Valid California Teacher Permit.


• Possession of a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid vehicle insurance.


• Ability to align with the CAPE program philosophy.


• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.


• Organizational and analytical skills.


• Team-oriented with effective interpersonal skills.


• Professional demeanor and adaptability.


• Detail-oriented with a focus on customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Previous experience in a Head Start or State Preschool program.


• Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish/English or Farsi/English, are advantageous.
