Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mohs Laboratory Manager to join our team at UCLA Health. As a key member of our dermatology department, you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to our Mohs technicians, faculty, residents, and medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Mohs laboratory, including scheduling, competency validation, and licensure filing and maintenance.
  • Develop and train existing and new hires, as well as develop training modules and competencies.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA laboratory protocol, CAP and JCAHO standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise support staff in clinic/center administration and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform routine staining procedures, including operating and maintaining slide staining equipment.
  • Prepare for Mohs surgery by setting up cryostat, staining station, surgical trays, and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, residents, and clinical staff to resolve issues regarding worklists and other orders.
Requirements
  • Mohs Technician Certificate or equivalent training.
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field and/or combination of education and experience.
  • BLS for health care providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • 1+ year lead Mohs Tissue Technician laboratory experience.
  • Skills in accurate computer data entry in laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with peers, staff, and faculty.
  • Ability to maintain all block logs and print grossing sheets and labels for slides.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active membership to American Society of Mohs Histotechnology and National Society of Histotechnology.
