Job Summary

nVent is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Problem-Solving Activities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Perform Process Validations: Conduct thorough inspections and monitoring of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide Support to Design and Manufacturing Functions: Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to design and manufacturing teams.
  • Contain Quality Defects: Develop and implement containment plans to prevent the spread of quality defects.
  • Prepare Inspection Reports: Create detailed reports of inspections and testing, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Determine and Use Measuring Tools: Select and utilize appropriate measuring tools and equipment to verify dimensional and functional acceptance.
  • Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, and customer service teams.
  • Analyze Product Reviews: Conduct thorough analysis of product reviews to identify causes and dispositions.
  • Support Audits: Participate in audits and provide support to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead Calibration Efforts: Lead and assist in the calibration of inspection, test, and measurement equipment.
  • Train Personnel: Provide training to personnel on quality standards and procedures.
  • Participate in Lean Activities: Collaborate with teams to identify areas for improvement and implement lean initiatives.
  • Ensure Safety: Observe and report any unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. Technical degree preferred. Experience in quality processes, ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Technician (CQT) preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good mechanical aptitude and comfort applying to sheet metal. Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, sampling inspection, and statistical process control. Experience conducting calibration with an understanding of inspection system software. Ability to interpret order requirements, quotes, drawings, and draw conclusions. Ability to use precision measuring equipment. Skill in identifying root causes of routine problems/issues and developing recommendations for continual improvement. Energetic with the ability to effectively organize, plan workload, and work in a self-directed manner. Ability to utilize good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with people across multiple functional areas within the company. Self-driven individual with a positive attitude, able to motivate and influence at all levels. Ability to interpret and apply Quality System/ISO procedures and documentation. Must be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments. Knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes preferred. Knowledge in technical aspects of products as well as of product specifications and offerings preferred. Skills to quickly learn and operate a wide variety of test and measurement equipment. Energetic, self-motivated, and possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Ability to apply appropriate math and geometry. Skill in using personal computers, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to operate hand tools. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand and walk frequently.
