As a Histologic Technician II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in supporting the Pathology Department by performing immunohistochemical stains and special procedures. Your expertise will be essential in preparing and staining histology specimens, ensuring accurate results and maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process histology specimens for staining and analysis.
- Perform immunohistochemical stains and special procedures as required.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and staining machines.
- Conduct quality control checks on stained slides to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Order reagents and supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure smooth workflow and efficient processing of specimens.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies.
- Document and maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new laboratory staff as needed.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 12 months of histology tech experience, or completion of a histology training program.
- Valid Histologic Technician Certificate or Histologic Technologist Certificate.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with laboratory information systems.
- Knowledge of immunohistochemistry techniques and principles.
