Job Summary:

The Measurement Technician position at Kinder Morgan is a critical role that requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail. As a Measurement Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation, and accuracy of all natural gas and/or liquid measurement and control facilities. This includes installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and removing advanced measurement, control, and regulation equipment, SCADA, and quality equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate measurement and control of gas and liquid products through the measurement system.
  • Monitor gas and liquid product volumes and apply corrections as needed.
  • Interpret and apply electrical and electronic schematics pertaining to EFM and measurement electronics.
  • Assess facilities to ensure accurate measurement and maintain company lost and unaccounted for gas and product.
  • Perform audits of custody transfer and control data when necessary.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
  • Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete documentation and paperwork.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office and company software.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Codes.
  • Ability to respond to callouts and emergencies after regular business hours.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic test instruments, gas and liquid chromatography, and mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used in gas and liquid product measurement and control.
  • Knowledge of AGA, API, and GPA measurement standards.

Working Conditions:

  • May work in low-lit areas.
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.
  • Depending on the location and workload, travel will be required.
  • Available for shift work when applicable.
  • Physical demands: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders on occasion.
