Job Title: Process Laboratory Technician

Location: Princeton, NJ

Hours / Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Type: Contract

Responsibilities
  • Assist Engineers in various Pilot Plant activities.
  • Perform pilot plant assignments to meet pilot plant development requirements.
  • Assist in batch preparation, including conducting pre-weighs, preparing starch trays, making vitamin blends, preparing the bulk batch, and depositing.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up for pilot plant batches.
  • Maintain supplies, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Place orders for raw materials for the VMS lab and pilot plant. Log in raw materials upon receipt and maintain an updated inventory after each use.
  • Oversee and maintain all raw material inventory.
  • Test and document incoming raw materials for conformance to specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pilot plant equipment and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
  • Record data during batches and interpret results. Conduct analytical measurements, including moisture analysis, viscosity, Brix, specific gravity, and pH.
  • Assist with setting up pilot plant equipment in preparation for batching. Clean equipment and pilot plant after each batch.
  • Conduct housekeeping of pilot plant workspace and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitor pilot plant trials as assigned by supervisor(s), including assisting in troubleshooting batches.
  • Perform any other related duties requested by supervisor(s) with a minimum of instruction.
  • Must be able to follow established pilot plant, Quality and Safety SOPs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to use mathematics and technical skills on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop, organize, and prioritize tasks within assigned projects and work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Quality Assurance (QA) experience is preferred.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Good Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Displays Leadership Skills.
