Motor-Generator Technician

At the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, we are seeking a skilled Motor-Generator Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical support for the maintenance, testing, repairs, upgrades, installations, modifications, and troubleshooting of our motor generators and associated subsystems.
Responsibilities:- Provide technical support for motor generator operations and daily/monthly/annual maintenance of subsystems.
- Perform maintenance on the motor generator system during maintenance periods.
- Support the maintenance and real-time troubleshooting of the motor generators' cycloconverters, excitation systems, liquid rheostats, instrumentation calibrations, controls, circuit breakers, switchgear, hydraulic and lubrication systems, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, and cooling water systems.
- Record and document motor generator system performance data in accordance with established PPPL procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in obtaining parts for emergency repairs and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of quantities and location of the extensive spares inventory at D-site.
- Follow safe practices, including being aware of workplace hazards/job-specific hazards, following the JHA (Job Hazard Analysis), and having relevant up-to-date work permits.
- Keep training current, including hoisting and rigging, confined space, fall protection, cyber security, GET (General Employee Training), EUT (Electric Utilization Training), and NEC (National Electric Code).
- Technical institute or associates degree with two (2) or more years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of a degree, five (5) or more years of relevant and related work experience will be considered.
- Experience with methods of control of hazardous energy (lock out/tag out).
- Must be able to work in awkward positions, confined spaces, bend, climb, lift, and/or move heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- This position will be on-site five days a week. There may be some overtime work on occasion.
