Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Cary, Illinois.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality ultrasound procedures and provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ultrasound technology and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound procedures using advanced equipment and technology
  • Position patients and adjust equipment to ensure optimal image quality
  • Secure patient history and record information for radiologists' review
  • Assist radiologists with ultrasound procedures, including advanced and specialty procedures
  • Adhere to safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality care
  • Perform clerical duties, including maintaining patient records and scheduling examinations
  • Coordinate quality control activities, including checking film quality and labeling
  • Provide instruction and orientation to students and new technologists
  • Participate in problem-solving and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited AMA School of Sonography
  • 1 year experience as a Sonographer preferred
  • Knowledge of HIS system and basic knowledge of RIS systems
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers from all levels
  • Certified by Radiologic Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • CPR certification
Working Conditions

The Ultrasound Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints. The position may be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. The ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required.

This position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and to use patient handling equipment when necessary.

The Ultrasound Technologist will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment and adhering to all safety standards and practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care and safety and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
