Role Overview:
The City of Lake Forest is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to join our afterschool enrichment initiative within the Parks & Recreation Services. As a Program Facilitator, you will work collaboratively with educational staff to implement daily lesson plans, oversee student activities, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and assist with the organization and maintenance of the classroom environment. Ideal candidates will exhibit strong leadership qualities, the ability to work independently, and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with children. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to being a positive influence in the community are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Availability required on weekdays, with specific hours from 1:50 PM to 6:00 PM on Mondays and from 2:50 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday through Friday, totaling 15 or more hours weekly. Flexibility in scheduling is available.
- Assist with the daily preparation and tidying of the classroom.
- Collaborate with educational staff to execute daily lesson plans.
- Supervise a group of 5-7 students, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Uphold school policies and regulations.
- Create a welcoming and secure atmosphere for all participants.
- Maintain an organized classroom setting.
- Engage in communication with parents regarding student progress and activities.
Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting.
- Understanding of early childhood development principles.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to consider additional hours as needed.
- Familiarity with effective recreation philosophies.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
