Position Title: Machine Shop and Auto Assembly Supervisor

Reports To: Secondary Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Leadership Role: Yes – Team Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Machine Shop and Auto Assembly Supervisor is accountable for organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities of the hourly workforce within their designated department. This role ensures that all tasks are executed safely while maximizing efficiency and upholding quality standards. The supervisor plays a crucial role in directing the production output of the assigned departments, with significant responsibilities in safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides training and manages hourly staff on the assigned shift and operational areas.
  • Monitors daily workflow and task assignments for direct reports.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and fosters employee engagement.

Job Duties:

  • Offers guidance, direction, and oversight to employees to support departmental functions.
  • Maintains and organizes production schedules, ensuring adherence to quality standards while minimizing downtime.
  • Conducts daily inspections of departmental equipment and addresses any performance issues promptly.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations among workers.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures while coordinating activities with other supervisors.
  • Oversees departmental payroll, including timecard audits and attendance records.
  • Facilitates weekly safety meetings with department personnel.
  • Coordinates with the Maintenance Manager to ensure timely repairs.
  • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial production setting, such as maintenance, assembly, machining, fabrication, or foundry operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Outstanding communication skills.

Educational Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, overseeing the daily activities of others is required.
  • AAS degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Management, or a related field is preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.

Employment Type: Full-time – 8 Hour Shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime as needed.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
