Surgical Athletic Trainer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Athletic Trainer to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our orthopedic physicians and surgeons.
Key Responsibilities- Provide athletic training services to patients under the direction of a designated orthopedic physician.
- Assist surgeons with patient positioning, preparation, and draping in the operating room.
- Maintain a sterile operating field, cut sutures, and assist with tissue retraction, exposure of the operative area, suctioning, sizing, and preparation of previously harvested graft-tissue.
- Perform thorough medical histories and physical examinations on patients, including range of motion testing, strength testing, sensation testing, palpation, functional testing, ligamentous testing, and special tests as needed.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, assist in provision of continuity of care from office visits through surgery, and provide therapy needs.
- Perform cast and/or durable medical equipment (DME) application and removal.
- Provide educational responsibilities to patients, including exercise instruction and demonstration, and answer patient questions regarding treatment plans, surgery, rehabilitation, and future care.
- NBCOT Orthopedic Technologist Certification and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer with one (1) year of surgical experience or NBCOT Orthopedic Technologist Certification with completion of an Athletic Training Residency Program and one (1) year of surgical experience.
- Must obtain NBCOT OT-Surgery Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is required.
