A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting. This position involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs, prioritizing their needs, and responding to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide patient care, including vital signs, height, weight, and other necessary measurements.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions.
- Administer screening tests, such as visual tests, audiology, spirometry, and EKGs.
- Provide patient education, as directed, on specific MA training, guidelines, care process models, and protocols.
- Report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
- Follow provider instructions to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient follow-through with pharmacy refills, scheduling out-of-clinic procedures, obtaining and reporting lab results, leaving phone messages, and distributing faxes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, such as CQI, TQM, Lean, and 100% participation.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience or current RN/LPN license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

This position requires frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, requiring the ability to verbally communicate, hear, and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. The employee must also be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, and navigate crowded and busy rooms.
