Surgical Coordinator

Granger Medical Clinic is seeking a skilled Surgical Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will be responsible for scheduling patients for surgery, tests, referrals, pre-operative tests, and medical and urological procedures. This role requires the utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider's orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule office and hospital-based medical procedures and surgeries, complete facility paperwork
- Schedule patients for diagnostic and imaging tests and complete informed consent with patients for procedures and surgeries
- Interface with vendors to ensure necessary equipment is on site for procedures/surgeries
- Review patient medications and health history to determine pre-admission testing; enter notes and special instructions needed for procedures
- Schedule and obtain approval for medical and urological clearances
- Confirm patient insurance information and obtain prior authorization as required
- Schedule patients for follow-up appointments and tests
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma and 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Surgery scheduling experience or equivalent medical office scheduling experience is required
- Must be able to multitask and handle obstacles with outstanding customer service skills
