Position Title: IBM Cloud Z Infrastructure Development - Linux Operating System

Location: North Carolina (ONSITE)

Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled and knowledgeable IBM Cloud Z Infrastructure Developer with a focus on the Linux operating system. The ideal candidate will take charge of designing, implementing, and overseeing Linux-based infrastructure solutions on the IBM Z platform. This role demands extensive expertise in Linux systems, cloud infrastructure, and IBM Z technologies.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Linux System Management: Administer, maintain, and enhance Linux environments on the IBM Z platform, ensuring optimal system stability, security, and performance.
  • Infrastructure Architecture and Development: Create and deploy Linux-based cloud infrastructure solutions customized to fulfill business requirements, utilizing the capabilities of the IBM Z platform.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and sustain scripts to automate system administration tasks, deployments, and configurations using tools such as Bash, Python, and Ansible.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and fine-tune the performance of Linux systems on IBM Z, identifying and addressing issues related to CPU, memory, disk, and network resources.
  • Security Oversight: Apply security best practices to safeguard Linux systems from threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with development, operations, and security teams to guarantee seamless integration of Linux-based systems with other components of the IBM Z environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve intricate issues related to Linux operating systems, cloud infrastructure, and networking on IBM Z.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in Linux system administration, particularly within a cloud infrastructure context.
  • Strong understanding of the IBM Z platform and its integration with Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, containers, and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and documentation capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud security practices and compliance.
  • Knowledge of IBM Z mainframe technologies and tools.
  • Certification in Linux system administration or cloud infrastructure.
