Position: Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products adhere to the highest quality standards and specifications through thorough inspection and testing. This position merges the technical proficiency of metrology with the structured approach of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to enhance the manufacturing workflow and maintain consistent product quality.

Work Environment: 100% on-site
Work Hours: Flexible start between 6 AM and 8 AM, concluding between 3 PM and 5 PM
Compensation: Up to $85K annually - direct hire

Key Responsibilities:
  • Metrology:
    • Execute precise measurements utilizing a variety of tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
    • Design and implement measurement systems to support new product development and ongoing improvement initiatives.
    • Analyze measurement data to detect trends, deviations, and potential areas for enhancement.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot measurement-related challenges.
  • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process):
    • Oversee the PPAP process for both new and existing products, ensuring all documentation and samples are completed accurately and submitted punctually.
    • Prepare and maintain essential PPAP documentation, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
    • Work closely with the quality team to resolve any discrepancies or non-conformances identified during the PPAP process.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
    • Document and report inspection results, highlighting any deviations from established specifications.
    • Engage in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address quality concerns.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to implement quality improvement projects.
    • Monitor and report on key quality metrics and performance indicators.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Certification in Quality Control or Metrology is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Familiarity with the PPAP documentation and submission process.
    • Experience in project management and document control.
    • Knowledge of APQP/FMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC), internal audits, and supplier development.
    • Proficient in report writing.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in the use of metrology instruments and equipment.
    • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as ISO/TS 13485, 14001, and 9001.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a collaborative environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality management software.
    • Knowledge of CAD/Unigraphics and PCDMIS is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move measurement equipment and product samples weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during inspections and audits.
