Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Therapist - Outpatient (Assessment & Referral) to join our team at Macomb County Community Mental Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting screenings, intake assessments, and case management services for adult mentally ill, adult developmentally disabled, and children with serious emotional disturbance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct screenings, intake assessments, and case management services within a Person-Centered Planning approach.
  • Request referrals for ongoing services within Macomb County Community Mental Health direct-operated or contract programs.
  • Maintain clinical and administrative records, coordinate, consult, and provide liaison work with other agencies and systems.
  • Ensure service authorizations are current and implement program goals and activities.
  • Perform direct clinical services, including screening of referrals or walk-in consumers, assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention, treatment plans, case management, and transition services.
  • Perform indirect clinical services, including complete case documentation following MCCMH policies and procedures.
  • Provide case management services for consumers to assist in obtaining necessary services and coordinates those services until the consumer is transitioned to a service provider.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure accurate administrative paperwork, including staff activity logs, statistical reports, attendance, mileage reports, and case lists.
  • Participate in agency and system staff meetings.
  • Conduct thorough, accurate, and clinically sound screenings with consumers, guardians, and family members in a timely manner.
  • Request authorizations for services provided, monitor utilization of services, request re-authorizations or continuations as needed.
  • Serve on community mental health or community-based committees.
  • Supervise the work of department interns as needed.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities of a Clinical Supervisor as needed.
  • Operate an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP).
  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous community mental health experience with children, adolescents, or adults.
  • Knowledge of the Macomb County Provider Network.
  • Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan.
