What We Seek:

The RN Float operates under the guidance of the RN Manager, providing support across various departments as required. This role involves integrating nursing processes—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to ensure continuity of care for patients. The RN Float applies foundational nursing principles, practices, and ethics to fulfill responsibilities within the RN Scope of Practice. This position entails accountability for coordinating pre-admission and post-hospital care and may involve occasional travel between SAC Health locations.

Work Schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours daily, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize RN scope of practice effectively in various job functions, including clinical care and employee health.
  • Conduct patient education by planning, implementing, and assessing care and educational initiatives for patients and their families.
  • Serve as a resource for clinic staff, physicians, patients, and other departments regarding medical and nursing inquiries.
  • Coordinate care through nursing assessments and perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for specific patient populations.
  • Document in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in accordance with established policies while ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Engage in quality management initiatives aimed at enhancing care quality within the clinic.
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance regulations affecting patients and families.
  • Instruct and schedule patients for tests/procedures ordered by physicians and communicate test results post-physician review.
  • Deliver high-quality care by adhering to departmental procedures and standards.
  • Comply with all organizational and OSHA safety standards.
  • Efficiently manage time to complete nursing duties in line with departmental protocols.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives for team members.
  • Demonstrate initiative by contributing ideas that enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Respect patient rights, including confidentiality.
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including medical providers and administrative staff.
  • Perform additional duties as specified in the official job description.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate of Science Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse; outpatient experience preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in computer use; able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate positively and professionally with others; manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
