Job Description

Berger Transfer & Storage, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Director to join our team in a key role that provides experienced support to all branch locations in the areas of financial management, including financial reporting, accounting, treasury management, budgets, internal process control, design & implementation, analysis, external audit liaison, for a $180 million multi-state moving, delivery and logistics company.

This individual will work beyond the numbers and lead the day-to-day interactions with our key partner relationships. They will also assist business leaders with defining key controls, address and anticipate issues and opportunities in running the business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee activities of the corporate accounting department to provide comprehensive financial information throughout the organization based on sound financial processes
  • Oversee general ledger, property & equipment, accounts payable, cash application, and credit card processing
  • Treasury Management, electronic banking design and administration
  • Manage month financial closes and reporting
  • Satisfy Federal, state and local income and sale tax filing requirements
  • Manage annual financial audit with external CPA firm
  • Participate in special projects, including profitability analyses and targeted reporting
  • Collaborate with Executive Team and managers throughout the organization
  • Database management and reporting (primary tools Excel & Vena FP&A)
  • Manage and mentor 6 direct and 5 indirect reports
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting and financial positions required
  • 3+ years in a Corporate Controller level position or Manager level at a CPA Firm is required
  • CPA certification (active or inactive status) is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) & accounting software (Dynamics GP experience is a plus)
  • Strong leadership, analytical, communication, collaborative and strategic skills
  • System and process improvement experience. Data analytics and predictive skills is a plus
  • Corporate income & sales tax knowledge and experience is required
