Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care services by performing ultrasound procedures in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review radiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective imaging.
  • Apply a broad range of skills to ensure exams are completed timely and meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Provide appropriate radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to prescribed safety standards.
  • May be designated as an interim shift lead in the absence of the Radiology Technologist Team Lead.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff.

  • Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate rules and regulations and applies them in difficult, stressful, and complex situations.
  • People Management: Understands the need for motivation, job satisfaction, performance feedback, and communication.
  • Patient Documentation: Demonstrates mastery of patient documentation in practical applications of a difficult nature.
  • Radiology: Demonstrates mastery of radiology services in practical applications of a difficult nature.
  • Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge: Demonstrates mastery of anatomy and physiology knowledge in practical applications of a difficult nature.

  • Organizational Impact: Executes job responsibilities with the understanding of how output would affect and impact other areas related to own job area/team with occasional guidance.
  • Problem Solving/Complexity of Work: Analyzes moderately complex problems using technical experience and judgment.

Position Qualifications
  • Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Certification - Others.
  • Work Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
