Position Overview

  • The Financial Accounting Supervisor oversees the upkeep, evaluation, interpretation, and administration of financial accounting information. This encompasses the preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers, and accounts, as well as the analysis of financial data, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, financial statements, and expenditure reports.
  • This role adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), state and federal regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates the coordination and execution of daily general accounting activities and develops control systems to ensure data accuracy.
  • Assists in managing all fiscal and compliance-related reports for the College.
  • Monitors bank account balances, debt levels, and adherence to debt covenants, while performing bank account reconciliations.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries, ad hoc payments, and bank transactions.
  • Ensures timely submission and recording of sales & use tax and hospitality tax reports.
  • Collaborates with other finance professionals to manage information requests and conducts financial analyses, developing suitable recommendations and reports.
  • Contributes to the development and assessment of operational policies, procedures, and data flow documentation.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GASB, including the Statement of Cash Flows and Management's Discussion and Analysis.
  • Prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the College.
  • Supports the preparation of annual audit reports and processes.
  • Provides supervision and training for new employees within the Accounting Department.
  • Engages in significant system development projects that influence financial activities and reporting.
  • Maintains regular, reliable attendance and fosters collegial relationships with colleagues.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Compensation:
$54,000 - $65,000 based on education and experience.

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, along with 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Workday accounting software
