Position Overview:
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician operates independently, utilizing assessment skills to implement patient care protocols in accordance with the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice. This role involves providing triage care both in the field and within the Emergency Department, ensuring effective communication for safe and high-quality patient care during transport and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver direct patient care.
- Transport patients using various methods while ensuring quality Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Critical Care management for all age groups.
- Respond to emergency calls at Vanderbilt and associated events.
- Employ problem-solving techniques to independently address patient issues and coordinate with the healthcare team to implement solutions.
- Identify and resolve patient and unit challenges, ensuring effective communication during patient handover.
Technical Skills:
- Ventilator Management: Demonstrates fundamental proficiency in managing ventilators under supervision.
- Critical Thinking: Exhibits clarity and sound reasoning in task completion.
- Airway Management: Shows basic proficiency in airway management techniques.
- Medication Management: Conducts thorough assessments of medication compliance and history.
- Patient Assessment and Stabilization: Demonstrates fundamental skills in assessing and stabilizing patients.

Position Requirements:
Certifications:
Licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic and a valid Tennessee Driver's License with F Endorsement.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited discipline-specific program.
