Job Summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team. As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing sprinkler systems to prevent or aid fire. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of fire safety principles and the ability to work with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop sprinkler systems to meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential fire hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure that sprinkler systems are designed and installed correctly.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings and specifications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in fire safety technology.
  • Participate in regular development meetings to discuss project progress and share knowledge.
  • Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
  • Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs.
  • Make revisions to models as requested.
  • Run simulations and stress-tests on all 3D models before prototyping.
  • Keep up-to-date on all modern advancements in material and software technologies.
  • Pursue ongoing education in the field.
  • Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
  • Submit drawings for approval to AHJ.
  • Design of plumbing drawings, as-built drawings, site water supplies design and testing.
  • Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination.
  • Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
  • Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures.
  • Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire condition emergency.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of Fire Sprinkler Designer experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing CAD software required.
  • Bachelor's or Certifications (preferred).
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
