Job Title: Measurement Technician

TECO Energy is seeking a skilled Measurement Technician to join our team. As a Measurement Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining residential and commercial/industrial natural gas measurement equipment, such as meters, mechanical and electronic metering instrumentation, and meter volume correctors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and maintain natural gas measurement equipment, including meters, mechanical and electronic metering instrumentation, and meter volume correctors.
  • Configure electronic meter volume correctors and industrial AMR units.
  • Perform accuracy testing and field calibrations/repairs using specialized gas industry testing equipment.
  • Plan, monitor, and perform preventative maintenance as determined and scheduled during testing.
  • Respond to industrial AMR system dropped/disconnected calls, making repairs to AMR or telecommunication equipment as required.
  • Complete all required calibration documentation utilizing the Work Management System (WMS) and ensure procedures follow accepted Engineering Principles.
  • Construct new facilities and install modifications to existing facilities according to PGS Engineering designs and instructions.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of HS Diploma/GED.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver's License (may require CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of natural gas operations experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • OQ qualified for the tasks assigned.
  • Strong technical ability.
  • Good understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Working knowledge of D.O.T. requirements and natural gas codes and regulations.
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of a lap-top computer for work orders and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Related two-year technical college degree or equivalent is preferred and may be considered in lieu of the comparable related experience requirement.
Working Conditions:

Requires working outdoors for extended periods of time. Requires working overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to gas emergencies. Requires working Call Out and Stand-by schedule on a rotating basis.

Physical Demands:

Occasional lifting (One to multiple times per month)- 75 Lbs. Frequent lifting (One to multiple times per week)- 40 Lbs. Repetitive lifting (One to multiple times per day)- 40Lbs. Carrying- 50Lbs. Pulling/Pushing- 75 Lbs. Reaching overhead- 25Lbs. Reaching away from body- 10Lbs. Pinching/Gripping- Hand tools, manual equipment, etc. Manual dexterity- Typing, testing, writing, etc. Shoveling- 4 hours per day. Walking- 4 hours per day. Standing- 4 hours per day. Sitting- 4 hours per day. Crawling- 1 hour per day. Kneeling- 4 hours per day. Squatting- 4 hours per day. Climbing- 1 hour per day. Back range of motion (ROM)- Must have adequate ROM. Must be able to detect normal concentrations of natural gas odorant. Must have vision acceptable under DOT guidelines 49 CFR b)(10). Must have hearing acceptable under DOT guidelines 49 CFR b)(11). Must be able to independently ingress/egress and operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted. A pre-employment drug screening, as well as a background check (including education, employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening. A physical may be conducted if required for the role.
