Surgical Services Patient Care Technician

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Surgical Services team at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stocking.
- Use proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients, applying and using appropriate equipment as needed.
- Implement measures to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the LPN/Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
- Assist with patient admissions, transports, transfers, and discharges, including care of personal property and clothing, and orient newly admitted patients to their surroundings.
- Provide safe care to patients, ensuring their personal and oral hygiene needs are met daily, and report any pertinent observations to the LPN/RN.
- Accurately take vital signs and record them in the patient record, reporting to the LPN/RN promptly.
- Distribute water, record intake and output, and obtain and label specimens accurately, maintaining precautions at all times.
- Prepare patients for surgery and other procedures, including vital sign taking, assisting with bathing and voiding, and removing and securing dentures, jewelry, and other belongings.
- Weigh patients as assigned, record weights, and alert the RN to any weight gain or loss.
- Make frequent patient rounds, repositioning patients for comfort and offering bathroom assistance.
- Assist the RN with post-mortem care, including labeling and securing patient valuables.
- Provide patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, applying and removing ice bags, and simple dress changes.
Requirements:
- State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification preferred
- BLS Certification required
- 1 year of experience preferred
- High School Diploma preferred
