Professional Truck Operator

Overview

The role involves operating a small, medium, or heavy-duty vehicle to facilitate regular deliveries and pickups. The position requires a Class A driver's license and may involve the use of a trailer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute shipping or transfer orders from stored inventory according to pull slips or other directives.
  • Assist in the reception, verification, and storage of incoming items.
  • Utilize a forklift for material handling.
  • Engage in courteous interactions with colleagues and customers, ensuring a professional demeanor.
  • Arrive punctually and prepared for work as directed by management.
  • Participate in company meetings and training sessions.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain necessary certifications for various machinery and equipment, including the CDL license.
  • Foster open communication with sales teams and warehouse personnel.
  • Verify the accuracy of deliveries prior to departure.
  • Ensure orders are correct upon delivery to clients.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service both in the field and to walk-in clients.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles to confirm they are in suitable condition for deliveries.
  • Assist in preparing orders for the next day upon return from deliveries.
  • Coordinate with job site contacts when necessary for delivery arrangements.
  • Commit to delivery schedules and maintain communication with the warehouse manager.
  • Ensure all delivery documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Record relevant information such as distance traveled and fuel usage.
  • Notify supervisors regarding vehicle maintenance and repair needs.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and a willingness to contribute to various tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Class A/B driver's license.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Knowledge of materials, part numbers, and applications is essential.
  • Familiarity with pipe outside diameters is preferred.
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between customers and sales staff.
  • Respectful interaction with co-workers is a must.
  • Assist in planning efficient delivery routes within scheduling constraints.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in property maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is well-maintained and clean.
