Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Children's Minnesota. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the continuous development of children to optimize their responses to medical care, minimize psychological stress and trauma, and increase understanding and coping with illness and healthcare experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement child life programs to promote children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide individualized care and support to children and families
  • Provide education and training to healthcare staff on child development and child life principles
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to address children's emotional and behavioral needs
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in child life or child development/developmental psychology concentration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Child life certification preferred at time of hire, otherwise required within first year of hire
  • 480 hour child life internship with supervision by a CCLS
  • Previous working experience with children and families
