About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team at Gensler. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of a variety of project types and sizes, leading all phases of projects and working with autonomy to deliver successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as lead design manager for a variety of project types, including retail interior projects.
  • Drive the project delivery during all phases of the project, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans, and lead the relationships with clients, contractors, agencies, and engineering and specialty consultants.
  • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements, and review internal project accounting documents and process draft project billing.
  • Participate in firm marketing, proposal writing, and project interviews, and manage mid-size to large project teams, assigning and monitoring completion of tasks.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in the coordination and document preparation for projects, providing quality assurance via review of project documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 10-15 years of Design Management experience in an Architecture firm, working on Retail interior projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of interior design/architectural projects, including sustainable design and LEED project participation.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service and assure project profitability, and strong programming and space planning skills.
  • High level of design competence and expertise in FF&E, and knowledge of state and local building codes, including accessibility.
  • Computer savvy with moderate or better skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project), and AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Photoshop.
